Coconut Lagoon Resort

This hotel belongs to the Casino Group of Hotels in Kumarakom. The palm fringed shores of Lake Vembanad and the banks of the Kavanar River make the Coconut Lagoon Heritage Resort an ideal accommodation haven for all. You can also enjoy the boat ride, which is avaialble at a scheduled time all the day. The hotel consists of the individual cottages called Tharawads, the traditional wooden house of Kerala. Each ancient building is a museum in itself with its own unique collection.

Even those who are used to staying at the best of hotels will be charmed by this resort which mixes the traditional Kerala houses built in wood with the most modern of facilities. Many of the bathrooms actually have banana trees growing within them. Very close to nature indeed! The resort is a miniature version of the Kerala bakwaters. Small natural rivulets of water run through the resort and divide the cottages.

The facilities are most modern but the ayurvedic massages are very traditional. The large dining area has traditional musicians playing in the background as you enjoy the sumptuous yet light flavors of Kerala. That does not however mean to say that you cannot get the usual continental fare.

The recreational hall has various indoor games on offer along with a big screen TV along with movie CDs to play. Only you do not actually need them, as there are other very interesting things that capture your attention. A pretty swimming pool is there to refresh you from the day long excursion around the backwaters of Kerala.

The resort seems ideally located at the mouth of the sea and speedboats can take you into the oceanic waters.
