Surrounded by the majestic Aravali hills and Vindhya hills, Ranthombore has an interesting history to boast about.

The fort and land has passed from the hands of the grandson of Prithviraj Chauhan in the thirteenth century to Rana Kumbha in the fifteenth century. From here it went to the Hada Rajputs of Bundi to the Mughal Emperors Akabar and Aurangzeb. In 1754 it was gifted to Maharaja Swai Madho Singh I of Jaipur. Ranthambore also used to be the hunting ground of the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth II.
