Heritage Hotels in Jaipur Udaipur |
The city was founded in 1567 by Maharana Udai Singh on the advice of a sage. Udaipur was one of the last capitals of the numerous Mewar capitals. It was in Udaipur that legendary Maharana Pratap was born. He was obsessed with Chittaur and the past glories of the Sisodia clan always pre-occupied his mind. Maharana Pratap left Udaipur to win back Chittaur from the Mughals. But he failed in his attempts and Udaipur remained the capital of Mewar till India got independence. The memory of the failure of noble Pratap gives Udaipur its pervading mood of nostalgic wishfulness.
Devi Garh Fort
Palace
Nestled in the Aravali hills, the 18th century Devi Garh Fort
Palace in the village of Delwara, forms one of the three main passes into the
valley of Udaipur. The construction of the Fort Palace was only started in the

building, which was abandoned in the 1960's after the principality was merged
into the state of Rajasthan.

years of restoration and rebuilding. The Fort Palace was conceived as a Palace
where the past meets the future. This all suite luxury hotel comprising of 23

and detail, using local marbles and semi-precious stones. The contemporary
design showcased within this spectacular heritage property, complemented by

century.

This famous city is the capital of Rajasthan and has earned universal acclaimation as the 'Pink City', due to the pink stones used in its beautifully constructed palaces, havelis and forts. Tall, rugged men with handle-bar whiskers sport bright pink coloured turbans.
Built in 1772 A.D., by Sawai Jai Singh-II, Jaipur was the first planned city of its time in India.
The Shahpura House
In 1956, Rao Dhir Singh, created the Shahpura House, once the residence of erstwhile rulers and scion of the Shekhawat clan of Rajputs. The house has been converted into a hotel now. Rare among hotels it still remains a family home, where the members of the erstwhile ruling family welcome you personally as their honoured guest. The house depicts the traditional Rajput architecture, a mixture of Mughal and Indian one, a façade with domes and frescoes. The House is thus a very fine example of Shekhawati frescos and architecture.
All spacious rooms with elegant colonial furniture along with all modern amenities having their own individual characters. Most of them resemble are air-conditioned and all have attached bathrooms. The rooms are very much the ones that were used by the royalties of Shahpura family.

Mandawa Haveli
Mandawa Haveli was built in 1896 by Thakur Bhagwat Singhji, the 15th ruler of Mandawa. This feudal principality in the heart of the Shekhawati region was ruled by the clan of Kachhawa Rajputs from the house of Amber. Their ancestor Rao Shekhaji who established the region of Shekhawati was the son of a ruler of Amber. Originally conceived as a town house when on state duty in Jaipur, the house was surrounded by acres of land which included orchards and gardens. The haveli was built in the Jaipur style of architecture with one main hall in the centre and rooms on either side with verandahs running the length of the house both in front and at the back.
Thakur Jai Singhji made some additions to the Haveli and it was under Thakur Devi Singhji, the 17th ruler, that the Haveli was turned into a hotel.
